Every scenario starts broken. Nothing tells you where the fault is.
The user’s own words
What you will practise
How it works
You land inside a machine that is already broken. Open whatever you need — the browser, the settings, the console. Change the thing that is actually wrong, wherever it lives. Then go back and confirm the symptom is gone. Nothing here will tell you that you succeeded; you have to check.
Debrief
What you did
Every action that changed what you knew, in order.
The shorter path
Same evidence, fewer assumptions.
Tell us what your machine is doing
Describe a fault in your own words and we will build a scenario around it — the machine, the hidden cause, the dead ends and the verification step.
Nothing solved yet
A solve counts when you verified it yourself. Hints and dead ends are kept because they are the useful part.
Solved by category
Where you are slowest
Ranked by hints used and time over the typical solve.
Streak
Recent solves
Your custom scenarios
Custom scenarios are not built yet.
Nothing pre-built is ever capped
The library costs us nothing to serve, so Pro does not meter it. The only metered thing is AI generation, because that is the only thing with a cost each time you use it.
Free
- A new scenario every day, free forever — not a trial
- Replays are always free, so you can go back and beat your own time
- Progress, streaks and debriefs, kept on your account
- One a day means you set the pace, not the library
Breakfix Pro
- The whole library, at your own pace. As many in a sitting as you want, no daily limit
- Randomise. Pull an unsolved scenario at random when you do not want to choose
- Learning paths, and every new scenario as it lands
- 20 custom scenarios a month, generated from your own descriptions (in development)
Teams
- Everything in Pro, for every seat
- Admin dashboard across the whole team
- Assign learning paths to individuals or the whole desk
- Track staff progress, hints used, and blunt fixes
Pro never stops you mid-scenario. If you run out of custom generations, the library keeps working exactly as before.
14 days to change your mind. Email us within 14 days of paying and you get the whole amount back, no questions. Breakfix is early and the library is still growing — you should not have to take that on trust.
What happens to my progress if I cancel?
It stays. Solved scenarios, times, streak and debriefs are kept on your account, and they are all still readable on Free. You go back to one new scenario a day, and replays stay free.
Does the free scenario expire if I miss a day?
No. You get a new one every day, free, for as long as you want it. Replaying something you have already solved never uses the allowance, so you can always come back and beat your own time.
What is a custom scenario?
You describe a fault in your own words and Breakfix builds a working machine with that fault hidden inside it, including the decoys and the verification step. Each one is generated for you when you ask, which is why they are counted.
Is there a student rate?
Yes — Pro is half price with an academic email address, on the annual plan. It is the same product, and it renews at the student rate for as long as the address verifies.
Terms of use

These are a starting point, not legal advice. Have them reviewed before you take money. Everything below describes how Breakfix actually works today.
What Breakfix is
Breakfix is a practice environment. Every machine, fault, console and setting inside it is simulated in your browser. Nothing here touches a real computer, a real network, or any system you own. It is a teaching tool and it is not a diagnostic service.
Your account
You need an account to use Breakfix. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. One account is for one person. Tell us at Info@mechd.co.uk if you think someone else is using it.
Free and paid
- Free gives you one new scenario a day, and unlimited replays of anything you have solved.
- Pro is billed monthly or yearly and removes the daily limit.
- 14-day refund. Email us within 14 days of paying and you get the full amount back, no questions asked. This matches your statutory right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we will not ask you to waive it.
- Cancel any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, then go back to the free daily scenario. Your progress stays.
- Prices can change. We will tell you before it affects an existing subscription.
The library changes
Breakfix is early. Scenarios get added, edited and occasionally removed when a better version replaces them. Your solved history stays even if a scenario is retired.
What you may not do
- Share an account, or resell access
- Copy scenario content to republish elsewhere
- Attack the service, or try to reach data belonging to other people
- Automate accounts to get around the free daily limit
No guarantee
Breakfix teaches troubleshooting technique. It does not guarantee you will pass any certification or get any job, and nothing you learn here should be applied blindly to a real system you depend on. Simulated environments are simplified on purpose.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time in Account settings, which removes everything we hold about you. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and we will refund any unused paid period if we do.
Cancelling and refunds
- You have 14 days from paying to cancel and get a full refund, for any reason or none. This is your statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and we do not ask you to waive it in exchange for immediate access.
- After 14 days you can still cancel at any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and we do not refund part-periods.
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within five working days.
Disclaimer
Breakfix is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of faults, or suitable for any particular purpose.
Everything inside Breakfix is a simulation. The machines, faults, consoles and settings are teaching models. They are simplified on purpose and they do not behave in every respect like the real systems they resemble. Nothing here is technical advice, and you should not apply anything you learn to a live system you depend on without understanding it first. If you break a real machine, that is on you.
Breakfix is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Microsoft, Apple, Google, or any other operating system vendor. Environments described as desktop-style, laptop-style or mobile-style are our own designs and are not reproductions of any real product.
We do not guarantee that using Breakfix will help you pass any examination or certification, or obtain any job.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with Breakfix is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of data on your own systems, or business interruption.
If you are a consumer, none of this affects your statutory rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you — pricing, refunds, or what you are allowed to do — we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Breakfix after that means you accept the new version.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own country.

Privacy policy
Last updated — 05 August 2026
Short version: we store your email and what you have solved. Nothing else. We do not sell anything to anyone, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
What we hold
- Your email address, so you can sign in and so we can reach you about your account
- Your password, hashed by our authentication provider. We never see it
- Your progress — which scenarios you solved, when, how long you took, how many hints you used, and whether you took the clean or blunt route
That is the lot. No name, no address, no phone number, no payment card — if you subscribe, your card is handled entirely by the payment provider and never reaches us.
Why we hold it
To run your account, show your progress and streak, and enforce the free daily allowance. Under UK and EU data protection law the lawful basis is performance of a contract — we cannot give you an account without it.
Who else sees it
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in
- Cloudflare serves the site
Both are processors acting on our instructions. Nobody else receives your data, and we do not sell or share it for advertising.
Cookies
One, and it is the session token that keeps you signed in. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers — which is why you have not been asked to accept a banner.
How long
For as long as your account exists. Delete your account in Account settings and everything — profile and progress — is removed immediately. There is no soft delete and no archive copy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deletion is built into the app so you do not have to ask. For anything else, email Info@mechd.co.uk and we will answer within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will email you rather than quietly update the page.
Who is responsible
Mechd Ltd is the data controller for the information described here.
- Company number 17259958, registered in England and Wales
- Registered office: Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE
- Email: Info@mechd.co.uk
Where your data goes
Supabase and Cloudflare both operate outside the UK in some regions. Where data leaves the UK it is protected by the standard contractual clauses those providers commit to. Check the region your Supabase project is in and name it here.
Keeping it safe
Passwords are hashed and we never see them. Every row in our database is protected by row level security, so one account cannot read another's data even if someone gets hold of our public API key. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, and if there is ever a breach that puts you at risk we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours.
Children
Breakfix is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly hold data about anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
What we do not do
- No profiling and no automated decisions about you
- No selling or renting your data, ever
- No advertising trackers, and no third-party analytics that identify you
- No marketing emails unless you ask for them
